Details: On 28 October, Coster-Waldau travelled on the Kyiv metro where, alongside many other residents, he took shelter from Russian attacks. The actor even rested on a fold-out bed while waiting for the all-clear and took selfies with Ukrainians.

The actor also visited a bar in Kyiv's Podilskyi district, where a Threads user named Veta Zadorozhnaya managed to have her photo taken with him.

"He is an incredibly pleasant and handsome man. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to chat because he was in a hurry," she said.

The exact reason for the Danish actor's visit to Kyiv is unknown.

Coster-Waldau became a UN Goodwill Ambassador in 2016, when Game of Thrones, the HBO series, was at the height of its popularity. Since then, he has been working to raise awareness of climate change and promote gender equality.

In February 2026, Ukraine House in Denmark reported that the actor had taken part in an event organised by the Danish Cultural Institute. He joined others in reading prominent works by Ukrainian authors.

Background: In August, Hollywood actress and director Angelina Jolie visited Ukraine once again. She met Ukrainian children and families of soldiers who had returned from captivity and paid tribute to the memory of Oleksii Yukov.
