Ukrainian nuclear power plants have been forced to reduce electricity generation, Energy Ministry says
Ukrainian nuclear power plants have been forced to reduce their generating capacity due to large-scale and systematic Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

Details: The reduction is necessary because attacks on substations have limited the energy system's ability to distribute electricity generated by nuclear power plants.
The return to normal generation levels will be gradual, once power engineers have repaired the networks damaged by the attacks.
The most difficult electricity situation is in the capital region. In Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, distribution system operators are imposing network restrictions due to extensive damage to energy equipment.
Emergency power cuts are also currently in effect in Kharkiv Oblast because some equipment was damaged in previous attacks and voltage levels in the high-voltage grid have been reduced.
Overall, as of the morning, some consumers in Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts were without electricity as a result of Russian attacks.
Background:
- On 3 November, Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator, reported one of Russia's largest attacks on Ukraine's energy sector.
- The company said that Russian forces had deliberately attacked energy facilities more than 20 times over the preceding 24 hours, causing significant damage to the infrastructure.
- During the attack, Russia directed three drones towards a substation that is critical to the stable operation of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.
