Details: On 13 March, Russian Telegram channels reported that Ramzan Kadyrov was in Ukraine and met with Chechen security forces involved in the war against Ukraine. Propagandists published a video which allegedly proved that Kadyrov was just seven kilometres away from the Ukrainian capital.

Oleksiy Arestovych, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said in response to these reports that "The veracity of this information is currently being confirmed, but some say that he was seen in Grozny [the capital of Chechnya] yesterday. But a day is enough to get from Grozny to Kyiv. However, his appearance here does not decide anything. If the information is confirmed, we will destroy him. If it is not, we will do it next time."

Ramzan Kadyrov immediately replied: "Why ‘if’? Did you not see the shooting or should I knock on your door?"

After midnight, on March 14, Kadyrov published a video on his Telegram channel and stated that it had been recorded in Hostomel, 25km from Kyiv.

He added: "Your intelligence is defective. In the video we are in Hostomel. Yesterday we were about 20km away from you, Kyiv Nazis, and now we are even closer – and guess how close exactly we are. I will pose a mystery: maybe we are already in Kyiv, just waiting for the right order?"

According to Ukrainska Pravda sources in Ukraine’s Security Service, Kadyrov uses two phone numbers. According to Ukrainian mobile operators, these numbers have not connected to Ukrainian communication networks in the last 7 days.

With the help of a public online service, we tried to find out the IP address, country, and city where Kadyrov’s phone is located using his numbers. This service generates a link that allows you to find the location of the number as soon as the user follows the link. The user does not know about this because the link just takes them to the linked website.

We wrote a message to Kadyrov in the Telegram messenger, introducing ourselves as a RIA Novosti journalist, and added a link to the article on the very day when, according to Kadyrov, he was in Ukraine, near Kyiv.

The service indicated that Kadyrov’s geolocation was the city of Grozny in the Russian Federation.

Therefore, according to Kadyrov’s phone data, the Chechen leader lied about his alleged stay near Kyiv on 13 March.

On 15 March, Kadyrov posted a video on his Telegram in which he was already in Chechnya.
