Quote: "In February-March, battles were fought near Kyiv. However, we managed to organise a reliable defence of the capital and drive out the enemy troops. Now we are strengthening the defences. Appropriate groups of troops have been created to protect the city. Therefore, a rapid transfer of hostilities to the Kyiv area is impossible."

Details: According to the Commander-in-Chief, the main danger today is missile strikes by the invaders, although Ukrainian air defence systems shoot down a considerable number of their missiles.

Zaluzhnyi also recalled that the potential line of confrontation with the occupiers stretches over two thousand kilometres. At the same time, intense hostilities have moved to the Donetsk region and the Luhansk region.

Background:

  • The last time the occupiers launched missile attacks on Kyiv was on 26 June – they hit an residential building and a kindergarten in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital.

Western politicians condemned the shelling of Kyiv, calling such actions "barbarism" and "deliberate escalation" against the background of the G7 summit.
