Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia: Hotel hit, 1 civilian killed

Russian forces attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia on the morning of 22 September, hitting a hotel and several infrastructure targets. One civilian has been killed.

Quote from Starukh: "The enemy has struck the [administrative] centre of [Zaporizhzhia] Oblast [the city of Zaporizhzhia]. We are finding out information about casualties and the extent of the destruction.

Abide by the air-raid rules."

Details: Tymoshenko later reported that Russian forces struck a hotel in the city’s central park.

Quote from Tymoshenko: "[The building] has sustained extensive damage, people are trapped under the rubble. Rescue workers are clearing away the rubble and freeing [those trapped]."

Details: Russian forces have also struck an electricity substation, leaving territories in the southern part of the Zaporizhzhia district without power. A TV tower has also been hit.

Emergency services are working to deal with the effects of the attack.

Updated at 09:35: Starukh reported that one civilian has been killed. Another five sustained injuries.
