Foreign Ministry responds to situation with Hungarian textbook containing anti-Ukrainian war propaganda

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is demanding the immediate correction of a Hungarian textbook which contains anti-Ukrainian propaganda.

According to Nikolenko, on 6 September, Ukrainian diplomats held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, during which they stressed the unacceptability of presenting unreliable and distorted facts about Ukraine.
"We demand the correction of false information in the textbook as soon as possible," Nikolenko said.
The geography textbook, developed for the eighth grade, is rife with anti-Ukrainian propaganda and false facts; Ukrainian diplomats state that such behaviour can result in "programming" students to have hostile attitudes towards Ukraine.
In the textbook, Hungarian students are taught that there is a civil war in Ukraine, in which Russia’s involvement is unlikely.
The entry is accompanied by a picture depicting Ukraine being torn apart by a Russian bear, and men wearing symbols of the USA and the EU. The book asks the children: "Which one should Ukraine belong to?"
