The decision on support will be finalised by signing a grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

"The absolute priority at this stage of reconstruction is to fix the critical infrastructure necessary to meet the basic needs of citizens. This is a necessary step to return Ukrainians to their homes and support economic development in oblasts," said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery.

Background: Japan intends to participate in projects to recover Ukraine's energy sector and cooperate with Ukraine in the construction of small modular reactors.

The Government of Japan has allocated US$95 million to repair Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The funds will be allocated to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under a partnership agreement.
