EU defence ministers will debate the issue of immediately providing Ukraine with ammunition worth a total of €5 billion at an informal meeting in Warsaw on 2-3 April.

Quote from the source: "As for military aid, we expect the discussion on Ukraine's needs for €5 billion will be debated at an informal defence meeting next week. Our hope is that we will be able to reach some sort of agreement in the next few days."
Details: European Pravda’s source mentioned that informal meetings of the EU Council do not have the power to make decisions "but can, without question, provide further guidance" on the implementation of agreements reached.
The discussion regarding EU's chief diplomat Kaja Kallas' initiative will also be picked up at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 14 April, noted a European Pravda source.
"It is still hard to say when this initiative could be finalised and approved and whether it will be approved at all," the diplomat noted.
Background:
- Earlier, media outlets reported on a proposal that a fund be established to voluntarily provide Ukraine with military assistance ranging from €20 billion to €40 billion, circumventing a potential veto by Hungary.
- As a first step, the text suggests that the leaders of the participating countries should agree to allocate €5 billion to procure 2 million large-calibre artillery shells in 2025.
