The international community has condemned the Russian missile attack on a residential area of Kryvyi Rih.

Details: Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans expressed his condolences to the families of those who were killed and emphasised: "The whole of Europe is preparing for the weekend, but Ukrainians live in a different reality. Another Russian attack, but you never get used to it. That is why we must accelerate our support for Ukraine."

The Swiss Embassy in Ukraine also expressed their condolences and stressed that "civilians should never become a target".

Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, condemned the attack, saying "another reckless Russian attack struck a crowded residential area".

"Russia continues to destroy Ukraine, no interest in peace," she wrote.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that "Russia seeks war, not peace, and the attacks against civilians, including children are brutal proof of it".

Background:

  • The Czech and Lithuanian foreign ministers, Jan Lipavský and Kęstutis Budrys, also reacted to the attack. In her condemnation, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink did not indicate that the missile or strike was Russian.
  • On the evening of 4 April, the Russians launched a ballistic missile attack on a residential area in Kryvyi Rih: 18 people were killed, including nine children, and more than 60 were wounded.
  • On the late evening of 4 April, the Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih again. A fire broke out in a residential area, and later it was reported that one person was killed and others were injured.
