Russia intensifies attacks in Ukraine's south, escalation possible near Mala Tokmachka

Russian forces have intensified combat operations in Ukraine's south, particularly near the settlements of Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka and Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, conducting daily assaults on Ukrainian positions.

Details: Voloshyn noted, citing intelligence reports, that the Russians have transferred assault group personnel to the front lines near Mala Tokmachka, close to the town of Orikhiv.

"We expect that enemy assault operations and attempts to capture this settlement [Mala Tokmachka – ed.] will also resume here," the spokesman added.

He also stressed that the enemy is continuing to carry out airstrikes on the Huliaipole front on the settlements of Zaliznychne and Bilohiria.

"The enemy is carrying out these strikes in order to destroy our positions and then mount assault operations to capture these positions and new territories," Voloshyn explained.

He also reported that over the past week, up to 50 assaults have been recorded in the Defence Forces of Ukraine's South area of responsibility, most on the Orikhiv front. In recent days, Russian forces have resumed attacks on the Huliaipole front, attempting to storm Ukrainian positions near the village of Poltavka from the east.

"The enemy is also continuing assault operations on the frontline section where the settlements of Kamianske, Plavni and Prymorske are located. Here, it is delivering a major strike on our positions, which have been virtually destroyed, with almost all shelters gone," he said.

According to Voloshyn, Russian forces are attempting infiltration operations in this area, sending assault and sabotage groups deep into Ukrainian defences towards the settlement of Stepnohirsk.

"In response, the Ukrainian defence forces are conducting search-and-destroy operations, wiping out these groups and thwarting their attempts, but this front remains one of the hottest in our area of operations," the spokesman concluded.
