Quote: "We are inspecting the railway tracks. There is already a confirmed power outage on the Nizhyn route. All trains on the Sumy and Chernihiv routes will be running with backup diesel locomotives, which means delays."

Details: The most significant delay at the moment is train No. 143 Sumy-Lviv (7 hours). In the opposite direction, train No. 144 Lviv-Sumy will also depart behind schedule, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.

Background:

  • On the night of 29-30 September, Russian forces attacked an energy infrastructure facility in the Nizhyn district of Chernihiv Oblast, leaving tens of thousands of people without power.
  • After the night attack, train services on the Nizhyn route were already being operated by backup diesel locomotives, increasing travel time for trains to and from Chernihiv, Sumy and Shostka.
