Russia attacks energy infrastructure in Ukraine's east and centre

Russian forces have attacked energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine's eastern and central regions.

Quote: "Repair and recovery efforts are ongoing at the energy infrastructure facilities damaged by the Russian attacks. Measures are being taken to ensure the stable operation of the power grid."

Details: As of 1 October, the energy system remains balanced, and no rolling power outages for consumers are expected.

The Ministry of Energy also reports that preparations for the heating season are underway. Energy facilities are undergoing repair and recovery, essential resource reserves are being built and protection of critical infrastructure is being reinforced to ensure a stable supply of electricity and heat to the population.

Quote: "We urge consumers to use electricity rationally, especially during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening. This helps to reduce the load on the system."

Background:

  • On the night of 30 September – 1 October, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 49 Shahed-type and Gerbera loitering munitions and drones of other types as well as 1 Oniks anti-ship missile and 4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles.
  • Five Russian missiles and UAVs are reported to have hit targets at six locations.
