Quote: "We consider this plan as an important contribution to the search for a just and sustainable settlement that should be based on the principles of international law and take into account the legitimate rights and aspirations of the people in Israel and Palestine.
We call on all parties to implement the plan in practice as soon as possible in order to end the war, overcome the humanitarian crisis and save human lives. We are convinced that the implementation of the plan will help restore security for the entire region, based on respect for international law and the UN Charter."
Details: Western media have earlier outlined key elements of the plan. The White House is proposing that Gaza be made "a deradicalised terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbours".
The plan includes the gradual withdrawal of the Israel Defence Forces from Gaza and the transfer of control to International Stabilisation Forces, envisaged as a "long-term internal security solution".
As envisaged by the plan, Israel also commits not to occupy or annex Gaza.
