Details: Management is trying to retain staff by resorting to persuasion and promises, but more and more employees are choosing to resign.
In the summer, employees signed agreements to switch to a reduced working week, which led to the disappearance of bonuses and overtime pay.
"If we used to get 100,000-120,000 roubles (US$1,200-1,400), now the maximum is 45,000-50,000 roubles (US$550-600). There are no illusions left; it has become clear that there will be no improvement," said a former employee. As he said, many workers began looking for new jobs back in the summer during their holidays.
Returning to work in the autumn, dozens of people submitted their resignations and moved to other sectors, from delivery and taxi services to defence companies.
Background:
- AvtoVAZ's problems are related to weak sales. In January-August 2025, sales of Lada cars fell by almost 25% to 211,300 vehicles. In mid-September, AvtoVAZ CEO Maxim Sokolov announced a revision of production plans: instead of the previously announced 500,000 cars in 2025, the company plans to produce about 300,000.
- On 29 September, AvtoVAZ switched to a reduced four-day working week, which will remain in effect for up to six months.
- AvtoVAZ employs about 40,000 people, with another 15,000 working in related businesses in the region.
