Details: As part of an exchange of combat experience, Ukrainian specialised personnel launched a Sting interceptor drone that successfully destroyed its target, a Danish Banshee drone simulating a threat.
Representatives from several European countries attended the demonstration, witnessing firsthand the effectiveness of Ukrainian solutions for countering aerial threats.
The event was part of a mission that the Ukrainian military deployed in Denmark to share their experience in countering Russian and other drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously reported on this mission.
Sting is a Ukrainian interceptor drone developed by a group of engineers called Wild Hornets specifically to combat Russian Shahed-type loitering munitions, making it one of the first specialised Ukrainian anti-drone UAVs.
It is equipped with an AI targeting system, can reach speeds of up to 315 km/h and climb to 3,000 metres. The drone is piloted by an operator using VR goggles. Its cost (about US$2,500) is far lower than that of surface-to-air missiles, making it a cost-effective option against Shahed-type drones.
Background: Incidentally, Zelenskyy previously announced that Ukraine and Denmark are launching their first joint UAV production line.
