Lithuanian foreign minister urges Europe to finally end imports of Russian oil and gas
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys has called on Europe to put an end to imports of Russian oil and gas following Russia's latest attack on Ukraine.

Details: Budrys said Russia had once again deliberately launched hundreds of drones and missiles to strike Ukraine's civilian and energy infrastructure.
Quote: "The Kremlin continues to pursue its terrorist objectives: to freeze, starve and terrorise the Ukrainian nation into surrender. Russia will not seek peace unless it is compelled to do so.
We must stop feeding its imperial appetite and put an end to state terrorism. How many more Ukrainians must die before Europe decisively cuts off Russian oil and gas imports and helps Ukraine arm itself sufficiently enough to stop this evil once and for all?!"
More details: Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has described Russia's latest attacks as an attempt to disguise its failed summer offensive.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has also urged the international community to increase and accelerate support for Ukraine in light of the latest Russian strikes.
Background:
- On the night of 4-5 October, Russia launched more than 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones against Ukraine, targeting Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa and Kirovohrad oblasts.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasised that Russian forces were striking essential civilian infrastructure and urged Ukraine's allies to provide stronger air defences.
