Details: The agent was recruited by Russian intelligence through his brother who resides in Russia.
According to the SSU, the detainee, in particular, coordinated Russian missile strikes on Lviv Oblast.
The man provided the Russians with coordinates of the temporary deployment site of his own unit as well as neighbouring military formations in order to adjust missile strikes.
He also sent the locations of armoured convoys, transit depots and vehicle fleets near Ukraine's border to the Russians.
The SSU established that the Russian agent maintained communication with his handler via anonymous messenger apps. To conceal his agent activity, he used three different smartphones with SIM cards from multiple countries, including EU member states.
The SSU documented the man's intelligence-gathering activities and apprehended him while he was on his way to a cash machine to check whether money had been received from Russia.
SSU investigators have served the man with a notice of suspicion. He is currently in custody.
