Top Norwegian skier strongly opposes allowing Russians to compete internationally

Norwegian skier Tiril Udnes Weng, the 2022/23 World Cup winner, has spoken out against allowing Russian athletes to take part in international competitions until the war in Ukraine ends.

Details: "I think it would be strange if they changed their minds now, as long as the war is at the same level," the 29-year-old skier said. "I fully support the views of the Norwegian Ski Federation. We have zero tolerance for this war and would rather not compete against them [Russians – ed.] yet."
Earlier, Swedish skier Linn Svahn voiced a similar opinion.
Background: At the end of September, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) failed to reach an agreement and postponed its decision on whether to allow Russian athletes to compete until 21 October 2025.
