The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has codified and officially approved the NUMO multi-purpose unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) from Tank Bureau for use in its units.

Details: The new product is designed to perform logistical and combat tasks on the front line. NUMO is a tracked platform built on a modular principle. This makes it possible to install additional equipment depending on the task. For example, it can be equipped with a turret, a relay mast, anti-mine trawls or a coil with yehoza, a special anti-personnel barrier in the form of a spiral of reinforced barbed tape.

The UGV can carry up to 300 kg of cargo, and its total weight with a load reaches 620 kg. The robot has a range of up to 25 km in its basic configuration and up to 40 km with additional batteries. Its speed reaches 7 km/h, and the drone's clearance (the distance from the lowest point to the ground) is 235 mm. Meanwhile, the system deployment time does not exceed 10 minutes.

According to the company brochure, up to six communication systems can be installed on the UGV, which can be switched according to priority: Wi-Fi (main option, distance up to 1.5 km), DTC, Silvus, Starlink, LTE and SineLink (additional options that can be installed upon request). It is also noted that the robot can operate in difficult terrain, such as in forests, swamps, and shelters.

In addition, NUMO has become the basis for the Droid TW combat system. This is a remotely controlled reconnaissance and strike solution with a combat module for KT-7.62 (PKT) or M2 Browning 12.7 machine guns. It was developed by Tank Bureau and DevDroid.

The Droid TW-12.7 variant with a large-calibre machine gun is already being used by 30 brigades on the front line.

"UGVs partially replace humans on the battlefield – they deliver provisions, carry out evacuations, and work where the risk is too high. NUMO is already being successfully used by the military in missions, and its codification confirms the practical readiness and value of the complex," said Nazar Pryimak, director of Tank Bureau.

Pryimak also stated that the company is actively developing and testing new UGVs, with the codification of several more products planned by the end of this year.

Background: Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine would receive more than 150 THeMIS ground robots from an Estonian company. They will complement the 15 THeMIS robots already in operation in Ukraine, which have proven their effectiveness on the battlefield since 2022.
