Zelenskyy: We can't even imagine Russia using nuclear weapons

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced that Russia will not use nuclear weapons, as that would be "crazy".

Details: The interviewer asked Zelenskyy what US President Donald Trump could do against nuclear-armed Russia, noting that to achieve a peace deal in the Middle East, he had threatened to completely destroy the Hamas group.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "I think that for today it doesn't matter if you are a big country with nuclear weapons or you might be crazy to open World War III nuclear war. We don't imagine that Russia can use nuclear weapons. Otherwise, you know, we need the new planet."

Details: Zelenskyy stressed that "there are things which are very painful for the aggressor", mentioning sanctions and tariffs, especially on Russian energy resources.

He noted that he agrees with Trump that private companies from European countries should stop buying any energy resources from Russia, but he asked the US president not to link this to the introduction of US sanctions.

"I'm kindly asking President Trump not to connect. I understand his point of view and I understand his steps that he wants Europe first to demonstrate and stop any energy contract with Russia. I understand, but it's difficult for us, you know, we don't have too much time and that's why, of course, for me it's better if the United States will make decisions in parallel," Zelenskyy said.

He also believes that Trump could put pressure on Hungary to stop buying Russian energy resources and noted that Ukraine could help Slovakia "find an alternative".
