Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that he will travel to Washington on 17 October at the invitation of US President Donald Trump.

Quote: "The team has already left – Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, and several representatives of our diplomatic sector. There will be several meetings. I believe we need to discuss the sequence of steps that I intend to propose."

Details: The head of state added that the main topics during his visit to the United States would be air defence and Ukraine's ability to carry out long-range strikes to put pressure on Russia.

The meeting will continue the discussions held during the presidents' phone calls on 11 and 12 October, during which Zelenskyy and Trump talked about Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy and civilian infrastructure, air defence issues and Ukraine's new long-range capabilities.
