Ukrainian L7 Simulators company unveils training system for interceptor drone pilots

The Ukrainian L7 Simulators company has unveiled a new training simulator for interceptor drone crews called Vartovyi ("Watchmen").

Details: The training simulator allows crews to practise detecting, tracking and intercepting hostile drones in highly realistic conditions. It provides realistic flight and interception simulation without risk to real equipment and can be rapidly deployed with an interface closely resembling standard ground control stations used by interceptor drone pilots.
The Vartovyi trains crews to operate in combat conditions, improve reaction times, target tracking and engage them in scenarios approximating combat use.
The simulator implements realistic target behaviour and trajectory modelling and supports simulations of multirotor and fixed-wing targets. It includes two workstations – Navigator (gunner/tactics) and Pilot (operator) – enabling realistic crew interaction during training.
Quote from L7 Simulators: "The training complex allows you to simulate a full-fledged air confrontation between the crew of the UPLA‐interceptor and enemy UAVs. Where the navigator detects the target, accompanies it, transmits coordinates or points the weapon, supports the pilot in combat, and the Pilot controls the drone in the air, performs maneuvers, [and] provides combat contact with the target."
Details: The appearance of such a simulator is significant because Ukraine is actively developing and producing interceptor drones. Among the most interesting systems is the General Chereshnia Bullet drone, which can shoot down Shahed UAVs; the new model reaches speeds of over 309 km/h and is being prepared for mass production.
Another interceptor drone worth mentioning is the Sting by the Dyki Shershni company ("Wild Hornets"), which was recently accelerated to more than 315 km/h; this drone model has shot down over 900 targets in a few months.
L7 Simulators also produces other trainers. Previously, they developed a simulator for the Mk 19 grenade launcher, which allows high-quality operator training in a safe virtual environment with full simulation of combat use.
Another L7 Simulators solution is a virtual trainer for shooting down FPV drones with a shotgun, in which a trainee holds an effectively real firearm and engages virtual FPV drones seen through goggles and heard through headphones.
