Quote: "Today we face the challenge of getting through the most difficult heating season since the start of the full-scale war, as the enemy is ferociously and systematically attacking all energy and heat generation facilities at once – with large-scale drone and missile strikes aimed at destroying and dismantling critical infrastructure."
Details: The Kyiv mayor added that "the situation is very difficult".
Klitschko said that the Kyiv City Council must adopt urgent budget decisions to respond to Russian attacks targeting critical infrastructure, enabling additional measures under various security scenarios.
These include reconstructing the city's water supply and drainage systems by introducing alternative or backup power sources, such as additional generators to ensure uninterrupted operation.
Quote: "We will have to reallocate funds from other planned budget items. I understand these are tough decisions."
Background:
- Ukraine's heating season will begin as planned. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy said that the government has adopted all necessary resolutions to ensure readiness.
- On 21 October, Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state power company, stated that heating may begin across Ukrainian homes within ten days.
