Quote: "This update includes components from the 9M727 Iskander-K cruise missile, the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile, North Korean KN-23/KN-24 ballistic missiles, and the Geran-2 (Shahed-136) attack UAV."
Details: DIU said that these specific weapons were used by Russian forces during the large-scale combined air attack on Ukraine's energy sector and peaceful cities on the night of 21-22 October.
Quote: "Despite reports of 'successes in domestic production', Russian missiles and drones continue to run on chips made by American, Chinese, Swiss, Japanese, Taiwanese and other foreign manufacturers."
Details: DIU added that two out of the six types of weapons used in the attack are being supplied to Russia with the support of its strategic partners – Iran and North Korea – highlighting the risks for regions far beyond Europe, particularly the Indo-Pacific area and the Middle East.

Quote: "Today's update confirms that current global export control practices and mechanisms for inter-state cooperation need to be reviewed and improved in response to new wartime challenges."
More details: The Weapon Components section features data on nearly 5,200 components found in 179 types of weapons and is designed to assist the civilised world in the technological disarmament of aggressor states.
Background: DIU had already published information in early September on more than 100 foreign components identified in drones and missiles used by Russia against Ukraine.
