Putin and Russian Security Council secretary seek volunteers to protect facilities at risk in Russia

Sergei Shoigu, the former Russian defence minister who is now secretary of the Security Council, has said that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has backed the idea of establishing regional volunteer units to protect particularly hazardous and critical facilities.

Details: Shoigu said the idea had been put forward by the leadership of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, which is among several regions that have faced frequent raids by Ukrainian drones in recent months.
