Ukrainian forces push back Russians in Pokrovsk area, but Russia advances in Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts – DeepState

DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts, has reported that Ukraine's defence forces have pushed Russian troops back near the villages of Kucheriv Yar and Novyi Shakhove in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast.

Details: However, DeepState also reported that the Russians have advanced near the village of Zvirove in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast and near the village of Stepova Novoselivka in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv Oblast.

Background:

  • On the evening of 22 October, Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian paratroopers had liberated the village of Kucheriv Yar in Donetsk Oblast and raised the Ukrainian flag over the village.
  • During the liberation and mop-up of Kucheriv Yar on the Dobropillia front in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian paratroopers found local civilians and evacuated them to safety.
  • On 24 October, DeepState reported that Ukrainian defence forces had pushed Russian troops back near Kucheriv Yar, but the Russians had advanced near several settlements in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
  • On 28 October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces have concentrated significant troops near Pokrovsk in order to demonstrate to the US that they are capable of capturing the entire eastern part of Ukraine.
