German media crew injured and Ukrainian soldier killed in Russian drone strike on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
It has emerged that in mid-October, a team from the German media outlet Welt, which was working on a report alongside a mobile Ukrainian air defence unit in an open field in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, came under attack from a Russian Lancet drone. One Ukrainian soldier was killed.

Details: The crew was preparing a report with a mobile unit of Ukraine's air defence in an open field when a Russian Lancet drone struck a military vehicle that was accompanying the reporters during their work. Cameraman Viktor Lysenko filmed the moment of impact and the minutes that followed.
The strike occurred on 13 October 2025 at about 21:35 local time in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, about 25-30 kilometres from the front line. At the moment of the blast, the team was only a few metres from a three-person military crew.
A 48-year-old Ukrainian air defence soldier was killed in the attack. Another soldier suffered injuries so severe that his leg had to be amputated.
A Welt producer, Ivan, suffered shrapnel wounds to both legs. He received emergency care and underwent an operation in hospital.
Welt's chief reporter Ibrahim Naber and cameraman Viktor Lysenko sustained minor injuries. The entire team bore clear press insignia while filming.
