Drones attack thermal power plant in Russia's Oryol – video

Russian Telegram channels have reported that a thermal power plant in the Russian city of Oryol has been hit in a drone attack. This information has later been confirmed by the Oryol Oblast governor.

Details: At first, Telegram channels wrote that residents of the Russian city of Oryol had reported explosions.

Astra later reported that the thermal power plant in Oryol had been attacked, citing footage filmed by eyewitnesses.

The moment of the attack was captured on camera by local residents. Astra stated that it had geolocated the video.

"As a result of a drone being downed, its debris fell onto the territory of the city's thermal power plant, causing damage to power supply equipment," Klychkov said.

He added that there had been "a switch to backup lines" and that "repair work is ongoing to deal with the consequences."

For reference: The Oryol thermal power plant is the largest source of electricity and heating in the oblast, providing both power and heat supply.
