Details: Pivnenko reported that the 16th Artillery Brigade of the National Guard carried out a series of mobility and live-fire tests with the upgraded BM-21. The exercises evaluated the accuracy and stability of the modernised fire-control system, the performance of the electric aiming drives, and the improved cabin ergonomics, designed to enhance the crew's comfort and safety.
"The test results have confirmed that the upgraded platform delivers better mobility, accuracy and reliability. The crews, for their part, demonstrated their high level of training and readiness to use the system effectively in combat conditions," added Pivnenko.

The commander noted that the modernisation of multiple-launch rocket systems and the renewal of artillery potential are among the National Guard's key ongoing priorities.
Quote from Pivnenko: "The same applies to equipping our units with modern self-propelled artillery, multiple rocket launchers, artillery systems and mortars. Our goal is for every National Guard unit to have reliable, proven and effective weapons and equipment that enable them to operate confidently in modern combat conditions and save our soldiers' lives."
Background: In May 2025, it was reported that the National Guard of Ukraine had begun upgrading its BM-21 Grad systems. As part of the modernisation, the original Soviet-era Ural truck chassis was replaced with a MAN (6×6) platform, which provides improved mobility, off-road capability, and reliability in challenging combat conditions.
