American actress Angelina Jolie has made a second visit to Ukraine. The star, accompanied by members of the humanitarian organisation Legacy of War Foundation, travelled to Mykolaiv and Kherson – cities whose residents continue to endure constant Russian attacks.

According to the foundation, the actress saw with her own eyes the protective nets installed over public roads to shield people from drone attacks. She also visited shelters where local schoolchildren attend classes and doctors provide medical care.

"The people of Mykolaiv and Kherson live with danger every day, but they refuse to give in. At a time when governments around the world are turning their backs on the protection of civilians, their strength, and their support for each other is humbling.

After nearly three years of conflict, exhaustion is visible, yet so too is determination. Families want safety, peace, and the chance to rebuild their lives," Jolie said.

She added that the experiences of people in Mykolaiv and Kherson mirror those of civilians living through conflicts in other parts of the world.

"Each situation has its own history, but the human experience is familiar: displacement, loss, and the daily effort to preserve dignity. Diplomacy and the protection of civilians should not be allowed to fall away in a brutal contest of weapons and technology," she said.

Legacy of War Foundation is an international charity founded in the UK in 2017 by photographer and writer Giles Duley. Its mission is to support civilians affected by conflict.

"We aim to spark conversations, build collaborations and support communities," the foundation states.

Since 2022, the organisation has provided aid to Ukrainians in frontline areas. More than 10,000 people have received access to primary healthcare and diagnostics.

The foundation has also distributed US$450,000 in grants and over 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid, and funded specialised support for women, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals affected by the war.

In 2025, Legacy of War Foundation launched a pilot programme to train both amputees and qualified prosthetists.
