Power cuts have affected several streets in the city of Belgorod, as well as parts of the village of Dubovoye in the Belgorod district.

He added that air defence systems had been responding over Belgorod and the Belgorod district, shooting down "aerial assets".

Local social media channels reported that the Luch thermal power plant in Belgorod had been hit by a missile strike.

Meanwhile, Khinshtein said that 10 settlements in the Korenevsky district of Kursk Oblast had been left without electricity, with repair crews preparing to restore power.

"Early reports indicate that a fire broke out at one of the energy facilities in the village of Korenevo. An emergency shutdown occurred, leaving 10 settlements (about 2,500 consumers) without electricity. The cause of the incident is being determined," he wrote.
