Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has said that stabilising the situation in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad operational area depends on coordination between military command bodies, units and detachments carrying out combat tasks.

Details: Syrskyi said that he travelled to the Pokrovsk front and spoke to commanders.

Quote: "The Pokrovsk front remains the main one in the context of the enemy's offensive. The largest number of daily enemy assault actions is recorded here, and a significant part of their grouping of troops operating on the territory of Ukraine is concentrated here. The enemy, in particular, is trying to take advantage of adverse weather.

Our immediate tasks are to secure, step by step, the designated areas and protect existing supply routes. We are also organising additional lines of logistics to ensure our defenders receive timely supplies and to guarantee the uninterrupted evacuation of the wounded."

More details: Syrskyi said that there is constant fighting on the approaches and within the urban area against Russia's small assault infantry groups. The destruction of light equipment of the Russian troops there is less frequent.

He also said that Ukrainian troops have been taking every measure to prevent the Russians from moving and consolidating their positions. The search for and killing of the Russian troops has also continued on the adjacent Ocheretyne front. Over the past week, search-and-strike operations have cleared 7.4 sq km of the Pokrovsk district in Donetsk Oblast of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

Quote: "There is no question of Russian control over the city of Pokrovsk or of the operational encirclement of the Ukrainian defence forces' grouping. The fighting continues!"

Background: Sources among Ukraine's service members from the Pokrovsk front told Ukrainska Pravda that Russian forces have been pushing into Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast since at least 6 November, moving in on motorcycles and pickup trucks and deploying mortars in the city. Sources told Ukrainska Pravda that attempts by Ukrainian special forces units to mop up the city were delayed and did not change the balance of forces in the city.
