Quote: "The prime minister reported on the launch of audit processes in state-owned companies. We agreed that the audits must be conducted promptly, and all results must be forwarded to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies for appropriate action.
Personnel decisions will follow based on the findings."
Details: Zelenskyy also noted that the results of the audit would be shared with Ukraine's key partners abroad.
"Transparency in state-owned companies and the elimination of any schemes must be guaranteed. We also discussed personnel changes in the Government – the prime minister of Ukraine will propose candidates for the posts of minister of energy and minister of justice," Zelenskyy added.
Background:
- On 13 November, Svyrydenko stated that Ukraine would conduct an audit of all state-owned companies, including those in the energy sector.
- She also submitted proposals to the Ukrainian parliament to dismiss Herman Halushchenko and Svitlana Hrynchuk from their posts as Minister of Justice and Minister of Energy.
- Tymofii Mylovanov – former adviser to Andrii Yermak, Head of Zelenskyy's Office (from 22 November 2020 to September 2021), former member of Energoatom's supervisory board and President of the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) – is stepping down from the supervisory board of Ukroboronprom.
- The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has released the third part of Operation Midas, its investigation into a large-scale corruption scheme at Energoatom.
- Prosecutors from the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) stated that the organiser of the money-laundering scheme around Energoatom – Tymur Mindich, a close associate of President Volodymyr Zelensky – built his influence over former Minister of Energy and former Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko through his connections with the president.
- Prosecutors also said that Mindich exerted influence over former Defence Minister Rustem Umierov.
- A few hours before NABU searches, Mindich managed to leave the country.
