Kyiv resident Inna Vysotska and her 14-year-old son survived a large-scale Russian strike on the capital on the night of 13-14 November by jumping from a first-floor window after flames blocked their apartment's only exit.

Details: Inna Vysotska said she heard an explosion during the night, and she and her son immediately ran to the front door.

More details: To escape the blaze, they climbed out through a window. First Inna helped her son to get down, then she jumped herself. Neighbours gathered below and tried to catch them. The teenager escaped unharmed, but Inna wasn't so fortunate – she was injured.

The family lost their home in the strike and are now staying with relatives.

Quote: "This is a great tragedy for us all. I'm not talking about myself, but Ukraine and even the world. For some reason no one can deal with Russia."

Background: Russian forces launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukrainian cities on the night of 13-14 November, using various types of missiles and drones. Seven people were killed in Kyiv, including Svitlana Vashchenko, a kindergarten teacher.
