Ukraine begins audit of Energoatom, three other state companies next in line

The State Audit Service of Ukraine has launched an audit of Energoatom, Ukraine's state-owned nuclear energy company, which will cover the company's head office and 10 branches, including three nuclear power plants, for the period of 2023-2025.

Quote: "We agreed that interim audit results must be ready in December. The audit materials will be sent to law enforcement and anti-corruption bodies to determine the appropriate course of action."

Details: At the same time, preparations have begun for audits at other state-owned companies: Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, Centrenergo and Ukrgasvydobuvannya.

"The government expects regular monthly reports on the progress of all inspections throughout the entire period. We will act swiftly if any violations are uncovered," Svyrydenko added.

Background: Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies have exposed a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector in Ukraine, co-organised by President Volodumyr Zelenskyy's associate Tymur Mindich.
