Ukrainian parliament dismisses Herman Halushchenko as justice minister

The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) voted to dismiss Herman Halushchenko from the post of justice minister on 19 November.

Background:

• On 12 November, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada planned to consider the dismissal of Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk at its session on 18 November.
• On 14 November, the committee on energy issues supported a motion by Ukraine's prime minister to dismiss Svitlana Hrynchuk from the post of energy minister due to a conflict of interest, with 21 members of the committee voting in favour.
• On 12 November, Svitlana Hrynchuk submitted a letter of resignation from the post of Ukraine's energy minister.
• The same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk were being removed from their posts.
