The European Union will continue to put pressure on Russia and support Ukraine, European Council President António Costa emphasised after a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.

Details: Costa said on 25 November that Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had shared with him their assessment of the current peace process.

Background:
- It was reported earlier that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has given an optimistic assessment of the latest efforts to reach a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia during a virtual meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on 25 November.
- French President Emmanuel Macron said that the Coalition of the Willing agreed to push ahead in the coming days with work on two priorities: frozen Russian assets and security guarantees for Ukraine.
