Ukraine's delegation in the "peace plan" talks has received an invitation to the United States for a new round of discussions following meetings in the Kremlin.

Details: Sybiha said that Ukraine has not yet received details of the recent US-Russian talks held in Moscow and stressed that there are understandable reasons for this.

Quote from Sybiha: "There has been a conversation between the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umierov, and [US president's special envoy] Steve Witkoff. But as it was a phone call, for security reasons it would have been hard to imagine a full discussion of the details of that meeting as this is a sensitive process."

More details: Two European ministers who have taken part in the ministerial meeting have confirmed to European Pravda that neither they nor European leaders have received detailed information about the talks in Moscow.

The United States is, however, ready to brief the Ukrainians in person at the next negotiating round.

Quote from Sybiha: "Representatives of the US delegation have said that in their view the talks in Moscow have had a positive impact on the peace process. That is their assessment. And they have invited the Ukrainian delegation to come to America in the near future to continue our discussions."

More details: Rustem Umierov, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, is currently in Brussels, where he has held meetings with security advisers to leaders of key European states.

Background:

  • It was reported earlier that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might meet Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Europe on Wednesday 3 December, but those plans have been cancelled.
  • Zelenskyy promised that after the US meeting, Ukraine will brief its European partners on the talks held in the Russian Federation.
  • Meanwhile, Russian officials claim they have already discussed Ukraine's NATO membership with the United States.
