Russian attacks cause power outages in five Ukrainian oblasts

Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have left consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts without electricity as of the morning of 8 December.

Quote: "Emergency repair and recovery work is ongoing, and energy workers are working around the clock to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible," the ministry stressed.

Details: The ministry also stressed to the public that today, hourly outage schedules and capacity limitation schedules are being applied for industrial consumers and businesses in all regions of Ukraine, from 00:00 to 23:59.

Quote: "We urge consumers to use electricity rationally throughout the day, especially during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening. This helps to reduce the load on the system."

Background: On the night of 6-7 December, Russian forces launched an attack on energy infrastructure facilities in Poltava Oblast, including the city of Kremenchuk, and in Chernihiv Oblast.
