The project will undergo a public consultation process – residents of the hromada will definitely be involved in the work." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Details: According to Netiazhuk, a temporary modular structure will be installed on the platform for the duration of construction. A tent has already been set up to provide heating for passengers and to serve as a waiting area.

Netiazhuк noted that long-distance passenger trains have already resumed passing through the station following the strike. Work to partially restore suburban passenger services is planned next.

Quote: "Railway workers are doing everything possible to ensure that services to Kyiv operate as normal from Monday."

Background:

  • On the night of 5-6 December, Russian forces struck the key railway hub in Fastiv, prompting Ukrzaliznytsia to introduce timetable changes.
  • Later the same day, Ukrzaliznytsia restored train movements through the Fastiv station, which had come under heavy attack overnight.
