Quote: "We do not have negotiations with the Russian Federation; they show no interest whatsoever. But we do have interests and dialogue with the American side, and we are grateful to them for their constructive work.

As for Russia, we see only their strikes – strikes on our energy sector, people left without electricity, and strikes on our infrastructure, our critical infrastructure. This does not indicate that Russia is interested in a peace process yet."

Background:

  • On the night of 8-9 December, Russian forces carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure facilities across several regions, causing power outages in four oblasts.
  • On the morning of 9 December, emergency power cuts were introduced in several Ukrainian regions to stabilise the power grid.
