Dmytro grew up in the family of a defender of Ukraine. His father, who goes by the alias Mark, is a veteran of the ATO. We bow our heads to the memory of our Hero and express our sincere condolences to Dmytro's family and loved ones. An unspeakable loss and pain," the university reported.
Dmytro's death was also responded to by his father Ihor's close friend Taras Tverdokhlib. He said that Sawyer was killed on Saturday 6 December.
"On Monday he was supposed to leave his position, but did not make it. Dmytro was a bright, calm and kind young man. A volunteer, a warrior of Azov. He went through heavy fighting in various sectors of the front, was wounded more than once, saved his brothers-in-arms and always returned to the ranks. Ihor, my dear friend, thank you for your son. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero. Honour!" the man wrote.
