Blaze hits home of man who survived Odesa strike that killed his wife and baby last year

A house in Odesa belonging to Serhii Haidarzhy, who already lost his wife and four-month-old son in a Russian attack on the city in March 2024, has caught fire during what has been one of the heaviest overnight attacks on Odesa.

Details: Sofiia Sidak said that Serhii's new home in Odesa has been engulfed in flames.
Quote from Sofiia Sidak: "Your prayers are very much needed. The attack is a large-scale one. The house of Serhii, who lost his wife and son, is now on fire. Everyone is alive."
More details: Sidak has also posted a video showing the scale of the blaze: the roof of the house has been almost completely destroyed, windows have been blown out and large cracks can be seen in the walls. Emergency services are working at the scene.
In March 2024, a Russian drone hit an apartment block in the city of Odesa. The attack killed 12 people, including 5 children. Among them were Serhii's wife Anna and their 4-month-old son Tymofii.
Serhii and his 2-year-old daughter Lizi miraculously survived because they were in another room at the time of the strike. Relatives later said that emergency workers found Anna and her baby son in each other's arms and that, forensic experts concluded, they died instantly in their sleep.
Quote from Anna's brother Andrii: "Normally, he [Serhii] puts his daughter to bed and then goes back to Anna's room. That night he fell asleep next to Lizi. Perhaps, it had to happen that way so the little girl would not be left an orphan."
More details: Serhii and Lizi lost their home in that attack.
Quote from Andrii: "Serhii is very strong. He is trying to hold on for the sake of his daughter. But he still has not accepted what happened."
