Khartiia Corps releases footage of operation to retake Kupiansk – video

The 2nd Khartiia Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine has posted video footage of the liberation of Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast.

Details: The video shows Ukrainian soldiers laughing at statements made by the Russian command, who claimed to have captured the city, and presents footage of the operation in Kupiansk.

Background:

• On 12 December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Kupiansk front and recorded a video near a partially destroyed entrance sign.
• It was reported on 12 December that Ukraine's defence forces had carried out a successful counterattack near the city of Kupiansk and encircled a Russian grouping in the city.
• In recent weeks, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov have repeatedly claimed that Kupiansk was fully occupied and "15 Ukrainian battalions were encircled".
