Zelenskyy: Opposition to reparations loan not limited to Belgium

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that discussions within the EU include several countries opposing a reparations loan for Ukraine.

Details: Zelenskyy explained that the motivations of different countries opposing Ukraine vary, noting that some have rational arguments while others display ideological resistance.

"There are several countries that are sceptical for different reasons," he said. "Some have domestic issues, some have internal political considerations, and some are simply against Ukraine. No matter what Ukraine does, some will still be opposed. These are their political prejudices."

As is known, one such opponent of Ukraine is Hungary, whose Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that transferring Russian funds to Ukraine would amount to a declaration of war by Europe.

Zelenskyy stressed that for Ukraine the key issue is the outcome rather than the specific form of financing.

"But the most correct form is a reparations loan, so that Russia understands it will have to pay reparations," he noted.
