Ukraine's Energy Ministry has reported that Russian forces attacked electricity generation, distribution and transmission facilities in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts on the night of 19-20 December.

Russian forces again targeted staff at one of the border area thermal power plants. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Emergency repair work is continuing. Engineers are working to restore power supply to all customers as quickly as possible."

Details: Hourly power cut schedules have been introduced across all Ukrainian oblasts today. Limits on power consumption for industry and businesses also remain in force nationwide.

Background:

  • Power outages have been recorded in the Mykolaiv and Voznesensk districts following a Russian attack.
  • Russian forces launched a large-scale ballistic missile attack on a port infrastructure facility in the Odesa district on the evening of 19 December. As a result of the attack, 7 people were killed, and 15 more were injured.
  • It was reported later that the death toll from a Russian missile attack on port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast on 19 December had risen to 8, with 27 people injured.
