Details: Residents have reported that in a number of districts, including the city centre, mobile internet has completely stopped working.

According to Downdetector, complaints from users began to come in around midday, and over the course of the day more than 1,500 reports were logged, while the service has estimated the likely number of affected users at about 70,000.

Some users have also noted that even websites and apps included in the so-called "white list" are inaccessible.

Background: Russian leader Vladimir Putin has previously said that mobile internet shutdowns, which have affected almost all regions of Russia, are necessary to ensure security.
