Quote: "We are preparing several more sanction decisions against Russian entities and those who support Russian aggression.
There will be at least one package of sanctions targeting those working with the Russian military-industrial complex, which includes not only individuals from Russia but also, in particular, from China."
Details: Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine is preparing sanctions against those who justify Russian aggression and promote Russian influence through popular culture, as well as against athletes who use their sports careers and public attention to sports to glorify Russian aggression.
Quote: "We are working with European institutions on the details of the 20th EU sanctions package, with the primary objective of expanding European sanction pressure on Putin's energy assets and the oligarchs associated with him.
Canada is drafting a new sanctions package as well – thank you for this work. Ukraine will also continue the processes of synchronising sanctions – the relevant NSDC (National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine) decisions and decrees will follow soon."
Background:
- Ukraine has synchronised its anti-Russian sanctions with the United States and also imposed restrictions on individuals involved in the development and production of Russian drones.
- Ukraine earlier imposed sanctions on 56 vessels that illegally entered temporarily Russian-occupied Ukrainian ports and exported stolen Ukrainian produce.
- On 18 December, the Council of the European Union imposed new sanctions on more than 40 vessels that form part of Russia's so-called shadow fleet of oil tankers, bringing the total number of sanctioned vessels to almost 600.
