Details: The Energy Ministry stated that once the security situation stabilises, rescue teams and power engineers will begin repairing the affected infrastructure to resume electricity supply as quickly as possible. Emergency power outages will be lifted once the power system stabilises.

DTEK, the largest private energy company in Ukraine, reported the introduction of emergency power cuts, including in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast as well as in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

The press service for Cherkasyoblenergo, a regional power distribution company, confirmed emergency power outages. Schedules for emergency power cuts have been in effect across the oblast since 07:07 on 23 December following orders from Ukrenergo. Hourly power cut schedules also continue to be in force.

The company urged residents to use electricity sparingly.

In addition, electricity supply was disrupted in northern districts of Sumy Oblast due to a large-scale attack by Russian drones, according to Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration. He said Russian UAVs had targeted civilian infrastructure in the Shostka and Konotop districts. Early reports indicated no casualties.

Background: A large-scale air-raid warning has been issued across Ukraine on the morning of 23 December. Russian forces are conducting a combined attack using cruise missiles and drones. Air defence systems were responding in Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
