Quote from Arakhamiia: "As I promised, I will keep the public informed about preparations for the possible elections under martial law. Today, for the first time since the full-scale invasion, the Central Election Commission adopted a resolution resuming the operation of the State Register of Voters."
Details: Arakhamiia said that this moves the process forward by re-establishing the Central Election Commission's engagement with citizens and state bodies on maintaining the register and, as a result, bringing it up to date.
He said updating the voters' register is one of the basic conditions for holding any elections.
Quote from Arakhamiia: "The war has had a major impact on demographic figures and this must be reflected in the register. There is a great deal of work still to be done on this front."
Updated: The Central Election Commission added that the restoration of the State Register of Voters, specifically its subsystem for interaction with voters, finalises the full recovery of the system and ensures:
- the recording and monitoring of the consideration of applications and requests from voters to the bodies maintaining the Register, as provided for by the Law of Ukraine On the State Voter Register
- the compilation and accounting of information provided to voters from the State Register of Voters
- the operation of the public electronic service Voter's Personal Account on the Internet
- the recording of inquiries from the bodies maintaining the State Register of Voters to voters.
Background: Arakhamiia said earlier that the Verkhovna Rada has been forming a working group to deal with the issue of holding a presidential election under martial law.
